Job Description

Are you an experienced HR professional seeking a hands-on role where you can make a broad impact? Our client, a global organization with deep roots in Japan, is currently seeking an HR Manager to join their management team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership across multiple HR functions, from payroll and benefits to recruitment, organizational development, and strategic planning.

You'll work closely with both local leadership and the U.S. headquarters, playing a central role in fostering an engaging, compliant, and high-performance workplace.

What You'll Do
As HR Manager, you will be entrusted with a wide variety of HR-related responsibilities, including:

-Payroll & Compensation

Oversee payroll processing, salary/bonus coordination, and year-end adjustments

Partner with payroll vendors and social insurance labor consultants

Manage 401K and benefits paperwork, and lead benefit reviews with vendors

Conduct annual salary and incentive reviews

-HR Operations

Create payroll documentation and maintain data in the ERP system

Notify and manage employee health checkups

Ensure labor law compliance and coordinate with external legal counsel and labor attorneys

Support SOX audit preparation and reporting in coordination with global HQ

- Talent Acquisition

Drive end-to-end hiring: create job descriptions, manage postings, coordinate interviews, and onboard new hires

Manage internship hiring, including visa coordination, housing, and cost management

-Organizational Development

Conduct employee engagement surveys and analyze results

Plan and execute employee recognition events and initiatives

- Employee Relations

Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and workplace concerns

Collaborate with external legal and HR advisors for guidance and resolution

-Strategic HR Planning

Participate in budgeting and HC forecasting with Finance

Report on personnel and recruitment costs

Support board and shareholder meeting logistics

Collaborate with U.S. HQ on policy and regulatory alignment

What We're Looking For
Required Skills & Experience:

5+ years of HR experience, ideally in a generalist or HR manager-level role

Strong understanding of Japanese labor law, compensation & benefits, and core HR operations

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Language: Native-level Japanese and business-level English

Preferred:

Familiarity with payroll-related accounting principles

Experience in designing or implementing HR systems and evaluation frameworks
