Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detailed oriented individual to join our Equity Finance Middle Office team in Tokyo. This team provides operational support to the equity finance trading desk, ensuring the smooth execution and settlement of trades, and maintaining risk and control standard.

Key responsibilities

Trade Support

Capturing, verifying, and validating trades and ensure smooth functioning of all trade flows and post-execution activities including account/static set up, trade pre-matching and confirmation.

Reconciliation

Performing daily reconciliations of positions and trades, identifying and resolving discrepancy in a timely manner

Lifecycle Management

Managing the lifecycle of trades, including settlement support, collateral management and exception management.

Risk Management

Identifying and mitigating operational risks and understanding controls.

Reporting

Preparing various reports related to trading activities and exposure to regulators.

Process Improvement

Identifying opportunities to improve processes and workflows within the operations team

Qualifications

             Prior industry experience preferred but not a must

             Strong interest in building a career at Operations.

             Business level Japanese and English

             Self-motivated to work independently and across the teams

             Team player - excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

             Strong problem solving skills and attention to details

             Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

Purpose of the role

To support business areas with day-to-day processing, reviewing, reporting, trading and issue resolution. 

Accountabilities

• Support various business areas with day-to-day initiatives including processing, reviewing, reporting, trading, and issue resolution.
• Collaboration with teams across the bank to align and integrate operational processes.
• Identification of areas for improvement and providing recommendations in operational processes.
• Development and implementation of operational procedures and controls to mitigate risks and maintain operational efficiency.
• Development of reports and presentations on operational performance and communicate findings to internal senior stakeholders.
• Identification of industry trends and developments to implement best practice in banking operations.
• Participation in projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
